The Municipality of Mainit is located at the northeastern part of Mindanao under Caraga Region. It is situated at the southern part of the Province of Surigao del Norte. It is bounded on the North by the Municipalities of Sison and Placer, on the South by the Municipality of Alegria and Province of Agusan del Norte, on the East by the Municipalities of Tubod and Bacuag, and on the West by the Municipality of Malimono.
